I have a presentation, with employee out of town, the only version I have is
read only and it will not let me save or make a change. Help.

Hello,

If you are opening the presentation off of a CD, make sure you are trying to
save the file someplace else.

Otherwise, it's likely that the other person created the presentation with
embedded fonts using a font that you don't have on your computer (also,
he/she uses PPT 2002/2003 and you have an older version - 2000 or older).

Just resave the file using another name.

In addition to the other suggestions ...

Verify that you have PowerPoint, the full deal, and not the free Viewer (which
lets you view but not edit presentations).

If you have a full copy of PowerPoint, start it and choose Help, Activate
Product (if you don't activate it after installing it, Office/PowerPoint will
start up and work normally 50 times or so, then go into "reduced functionality"
mode, which sounds like exactly what you're getting here.)
