Cannot run things ranging from My Computer to my "anything"

Just don't get why and how it happened
I just really want solve it asap
When I click on My Computer or My Documents, it just
won't run, the screen just blink once and then "ignore
me",it won't run the files/programs, it normally would
pop up a dialogue box showing all the files/ programs
inside the box, but now it just won't pop it up, won't
run, so please help me if u've experienced this before or
know anyway to solve it! Thanks for viewing this post!

Hi Jenny

To help see what may be causing this I would suggest trying to open one of those folders in safe mode.

This is how you go into safe mode if you need to know:

Turn on your computer, keep tapping F8. This should bring up a list of options, if you get to the Windows XP screen you have missed it so try again. In the Options you need to select option 3 'Safe Mode' and press enter.

Once safe mode has loaded test the problem, and shut down like normal.
