Cannot right click desktop to access menu

When I right click on my desktop nothing happens.
I get no menu's. Any have any ideas outside of formatting
the drive and starting over?

and scroll to Desktop.
Also you can try a system file check. Start>Run type: sfc /scannow
have the winxp cd in the cdrom drive.
