Hi

I am using Windows XP Home Ed. and Outlook Express v.6. I am able to
subscribe to a newsgroup but when I try to Reply Group to any posting
and after composing the message, click on Send, I get a message box
that says:

"No sender was specified. Please check your News Account
configuration."

Does anyone know how I can specify a sender? I've looked through the
help in Outlook Express, but can find no answer.

The news server(?) is nntp.perl.org and the the news group is
perl.beginners. This is the only group I am now subscribed to.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Chris

Go into the news account and enter something in the Name and E-mail
fields. You can use a handle for Name instead of your own name. You
can enter a bogus e-mail address but be sure the domain is invalid (so
spammers culling your bogus e-mail address from newsgroups don't waste
bandwidth and CPU cycles by a mail server on a valid domain for any spam
crap that arrives there). Or munge your e-mail address if you want
users to send e-mails to you (but would be invalid for spambots
harvesting your munged e-mail address). Some users munge their e-mail
address and assume it is obvious to humans how to unmunge it, or you can
create a signature that is used only in newsgroups to describe how to
unmunge your munged e-mail address (spambots don't know how to
understand instructions).
