Cannot repair IE 6 in 2K

My dreaded AOL developed a hickup. I am told to repair IE which does not
appear in Add/Remove. I tried sysinfo32 but IE repair option is not listed
under tools. My best guess is a SP hid/removed the Add/Remove ability. Do I
need to use 2K CD to remove IE and then reinstall IE and add SPs again?
It is 2K Adv Server, IE 6.0.2800. Server is up to date with patches & SPs.
Any ideas greatly appreciated!!

One idea.

When you open Add/Remove Programs, click on the icon that says "Add/Remove
Windows Components". A dialog box should appear with the Windows components
listed and checked boxes in front of the ones installed. If you uncheck
Internet Explorer, and go through the rest of the sequence, it should
uninstall IE. Open it again to reinstall by checking the box again. For
IE6, you can get a cumulative security patch at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/Top10.mspx.

BTW - I suspect that Robert W's link only works for IE5. I haven't seen any
such with IE6 on either Win2K or WinXP. Repair on WinXP can be exciting :-)

Good Luck,

Carl

Hmm - yes and just above it is a cut-and-paste command:

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

Missed that :-)

Carl

Actually I did not miss the cut and paste. I am running 2K Adv Server which
does NOT have a Windows directory. Also, it does not have a C:\Program
Files\Internet
Explorer\Setup\ directory either. So now you see my ponderance.
I guess I will have to try an uninstall

I regret to say I was not clear enough. It does not appear in either
Add/Remove or Add/Remove Windows components. That would have been a
nobrainer. Unfortunately I assume a service pack removed it. And I might add,
that while repair in XP may be exciting, it appears to also be exciting in 2K
as well.
Thanks for you ideas.

All those switches and their parameters are not necessary.
If you have setupwbv.dll Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter:)

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

Alternatively try using Method 2 from KB318378
