No matter what I've tried, I cannot rename several folders
or files. The problem appears to be in the "read-only"
attribute.

I can click on properties and "uncheck" the read only
option... apply... OK. But when I immediatly do the same
procedure, the "read-only" box is STILL checked even
though I've just "unchecked" it.

Thnaks,

JerryW

To remove the Read Only attribute:
1) You must be running NTFS file system
2) Enable Simple File Sharing in Windows Explorer\Tools\Folder Options\
View\uncheck Simple file sharing (recommended).
3) Go to Folder\Properties\security\check all permissions in "Allow"\go to
Advanced Options\Owner\add your account to take ownership;
Apply\Accept\Exit.
