Cannot remove old desktop wallpaper

I hope someone has some knowledge on this one:

I loaded a picture months ago as my wallpaper. Growing tired of it, I
reloaded a new picture.
Problem is that every time I reboot, as windows starts up, the old picture
shows up, then windows starts and the new picture loads.

How can I get rid of the old picture? (I do not know what the old picture
file is named)

Thank you everyone for input on this matter.

Hello

This occurs because you have enabled Active Desktop and your current
wallpaper is either .jpg or .gif. To resolve this issue, go to Control
Panel ->Display
->web and uncheck show my desktop as web....
This will remove your new wallpaper.

To set the new wallpaper, you will need to convert the image to .bmp format.
You can use any utility lilke MS Paint, or www.irfanview.com or any picture
editor
for this.

i actually want to remove the old wallpaper... will this do that?

From your previous post:
Problem is that every time I reboot, as windows starts up, the old picture
shows up, then windows starts and the new picture loads.

Yes, the solution will load the new picture directly rather than
first showing the old picture. If you want to remove the file, you need to
know the filename and search it in windows directory.
