Try turning off the Preview Pane

View menu then select Layout then uncheck the Preview Pane.

Now with the message not visible, SHIFT Delete on it to bypass the Deleted
Items folder.

See if that will work for you.

Thanks Gents, but as Steve said, it's a bit tedious. I wonder if MS didn't think of it or if they intentionally left out an easy way to do it. They went to a lot of trouble to make the Windows Easy Transfer but I would have appreciated a more specific way (or easier way) of only transfering certain things.

As I said in an earlier posting, I did transfer my messages but only because I knew where they were stored. I think a better way for most users would have been to give an option (for example) to transfer Messages or Rules or Documents. I guess I am wanting it too easy. I am a very busy guy (like most other people) and don't make my living screwing with computers. But, I definitely spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get them to do what I need.

At any rate, I just wrote off all my old rules and am rebuilding them slowly as the need arises.

No, it was just the moving away from the Identities subkey and into the
general Software\Microsoft subkey.

Ronald! If you are refering that you have a "read email" that you can't move,
delete or move, here's what to do. Mark the email as read, leave it
high-lited, find in top right corner of the page a drop down list. Click
"Hide read messages" Close out of mail and reopen. Let me know if it worked.
