My organization recently switched from IMAP/Mozilla to
Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003. For one manager and his
delegate, I have the following problem:

In the manager's calendar, items appear and can be
correctly manipulated (created, edited, and deleted).
However, when the delegate opens the manager's calendar,
the delegate will see multiple instances of an item, i.e.
where the manager's calendar will show one meeting from
1pm-2pm, the delegate's view of the manager's calendar
will see eight instances of the same meeting. One of those
eight instances is the legitimate entry that the delegate
can open and edit and such, but the other seven entries
cannot be opened or deleted. When the delegate attempts to
open the other entries, the delegate will get either the
following error messages:

"Can't open this item. Unknown error."
"Could not open one or more attachments."
"This item was not completely updated during the last
server synchronization. Click here to review other
versions."

Now,

1) The server synchronization log on both the manager and
delegate's Outlook clients have no entries.
2) The manager is using cached exchange mode, but the
delegate is not.
3) I have already tried the Microsoft KB and Google but
found nothing
4) We do not have Exchange SP1 nor Office 2003 SP1
installed.
5) The event log for Exchange 2003 has no warnings.

Has anyone seen this problem or know of a solution?

I'm quite stumped on this one.

Thanks

Because the manager uses cached exchange mode, I ran scanost.exe and got a
number of error messages basically of the form:

10:34:08 The message with the subject 'GENOME INFORMATICS TRIP, CSHL
(*May Stay UK for a few days*)' exists in your mailbox on the Microsoft
Exchange Server but not in your offline folder file.

and

10:34:11 The following message had an error and synchronization of it
was skipped (0x8000ffff):
10:34:11 "GENOME INFORMATICS TRIP, CSHL (*May Stay UK for a few
days*)"

Does anyone know how to resolve a "The following message had an error and
synchronization of it was skipped (0x8000ffff):" error message? Google, MS
KB, and MS newsgroups didn't turn up anything useful.

Hi Sean,

I'm experiencing the same problem and found your post in my quest for a
solution. Where you able to find the solution?

Thanks in advance!
