I have had this problem since I got XP,
When an incomoing fax is ringing, (tried it from my other
line), the box pops up on the bottom to answer as a fax,
I click here as it says, the computer says it is
answering the fax call, but the phone is still ringing on
the line I called from, then after awhile when I hang up
it says an error receiving fax. I came here a while back,
and no one seemed to be able to offer any help, in fact I
had quite a few other people with the same problem
contact me to see if I solved the problem.
Any new answers to this problem??
PS I can send faxes fine.

Do you see anything missing??

Well I must admit I have mine setup auto update to but when someone said
update to SP1 I did it manually (It has to be done indipendently of other
updates) and my fax now works a treat. Try it you cannot loose anything only
the time involved??

Please try automatic answering of Fax messages. To enable this go to Fax
Console (Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Fax ->
Fax Console), launch the Configuration wizard (Fax Console -> Tools ->
Configure Fax)

Also please check if your modem is a Microsoft certified modem that is
listed in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ca...ryl3&pgn=1f29b141-e504-4a2f-bb4a-f669b708567b
for external modems or
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ca...ryl3&pgn=f7600b43-10c1-4485-adcb-a203f7861b4b
for modem cards.
