I have just bought a new PC with Windows Vista. I have set up the email
account with exactly the same information as was on the previous machine and
can send emails but cannot receive them. I went into help and changed
everything that they suggested but to no avail. Has anyone any ideas please?
I'm feeling pretty desparate.

Hi Rita,

Were you using any SpamKiller program before in your previous computer
and forgot to install in new computer?

The program needs to be setup and downloads your E-mails in the
background to your computer. You point Microsoft Windows Vista Mail towards
localhost and not the POP Account.

go to tools and click accounts go to servers and under outgoing mail click
authentication at the bottom....it will work

And the error message when you try to receive is...?

What happens when you send an email to yourself?

Hi, thanks for the reply. It's an interesting thought but I have since added
another address to the computer and that works both for sending and
receiving. We both have the same ISP etc. I've tried deleting the identity
and starting from scratch but ... This is very frustrating!!

Di you get any error messages if you try to receive?

To Rita & everyone else with this "can't send e-mail problem,"

I just bought a Dell laptop with Windowsa Vista and am having the same
problem as all of you. It's obvious that something is wrong with Windows Mail
on Windows Vista at this time, and we all need to contact Microsoft and have
them fix it.

Surprisingly enough, if I use my ISP's wedsite to check my mail there,
everything is fine. I have Outlook Express on my desktop PC running Windows
XP and the IN/OUT settings are the same. This needs to end and we have to end
it. Let me know your thoughts, people.

PS: I was warned by a Dell Associate not to get Windows Vista on my laptop.
But being the bull-headed guy I am, I didn't listen. :)

If you want help with this, describe your not being able to send issue.
Any error message? Bad message stuck in the Outbox? Running
McAfee or Norton antivirus?

Gary VanderMolen

Gary,

It's the same stupid and undefined error message that you and I are seeing,
and have been seening everyone else complaining about in all these posts on
here.

Once again, it's obvious that something is definitely wrong when sending
e-mail with Windows mail on this new Windows Vista platform. If it was indeed
something wrong with my ISP's server, then why would I be able to use my
desktop without any such problem? Look at all the posts with this headlined
problem. Is this normal?

I hope that the "suits" at Microsoft are monitoring these posts. If they
are, and I know that they are, they know that they have a problem application
and need to fix it before people start loosing their minds. Let me know your
thoughts on that, my brother. Thank you.

Again, you are failing to define your exact issue, such as which folder
has the stuck message problem. Even when the error message is the same,
it doesn't mean the cause or the fix is the same. Also, there are lots of
complaints here about issues other than this "undefined error message".

I haven't seen that particular "undefined error message" since May 31
when I switched to Windows Live Mail. So, you can choose to follow my
example, or else continue to complain about and fight with WM gremlins.

Gary VanderMolen

My intention with my post was not to fight with any WM gremlins or anybody on
this blog-like format. All I was trying to do was to point out that,
obviously, there is a problem with WM when sending e-mails. All these people
cannot be crazy.

To tell you the truth, Gary, I really don't care about WM and its problems.
If I have to use my laptop to access my mail when I am away from home, I can
just go to my ISP's website and use their webmail. Being a Christian and the
caring person that I am, I was just feeling sad for everyone who haved posted
their ptoblems with Windows Mail e-mail sending. Hey, maybe Microsoft will
fix it someday soon.

Enjoy your blessings and God bless.

No offense, but if your only intention was to point out that there are bugs
in WM, you are about 5 months late with that information, and thousands
have already testified to that before you did. That 'news' gets stale and
redundant after a while. We're here to help people who ask for help, and
sometimes it is difficult to discern what type of help is being asked for.

After installing Vista iam unable to receive Mail from Outlook or Windows Mail. I found One solution for Ms outlook . Open Msoutlook > Tools > Options > Mail Setup> Send/receive > Edit > check mark download only headers for items larger than 50 KB > Click Ok and restart Outlook . Now it should be ok
