cannot re-install printer

my comp(compac presario 1.6 ghz 256 meg ddr ram )has win
xp home and will not let me install my printer. the
printer was installed before and working properly but my
kids got onto the comp and somehow deleted the printer
and now when i try to re-install it i get the following
error mesg.(Operation could not be completed). nothing i
have been able to try yet has work . any help would be a
big help . ty :D
 
1) Ensure the print spooler is started. From the command prompt, type

net start spooler

(and hit enter)

2) From the command prompt, type

sfc /scannow

(and hit enter)

After it's finished, reboot. Now try installing again. Please post back if
the situation is unchanged.
