Cannot play mpg video in Power Point 2003

I can load my video mpg file into Power Point 2003, but when I try to play
the video the placeholder turns white and I cannot see the video. My driver
seems to be working, and I have been following all suggestions as outlined in
this Discussion Group. The problem arises even in "Safe" mode.

Interestingly, when I play the same video in Power Point 2000 (on a Windows
98 platform), the video displays without problems.

Any suggestions?

A pity that it's not common knowledge.
It's more of a pith that it can't handle a path of more than 128 depth.

Glad to hear that worked, P. Thanks for letting us know!

That worked! Unfortunately I didn't realize that although the video filename
was short, the file was nested so deeply in other folders that the total path
length was far longer than 128 characters. Very useful information to know. A
pity that it's not common knowledge.

Thanks so much! I figured since this was seen by many to be a problem in
both 2003 and 2007 power points that it must be something basic - duh!
