I have upgraded my computer to windows xp home edition from windows 98
second edition. I got 1000 mhz and 512 mb sdram and geForce 2 mx with 32 mb
memory.
DVD-device is Samsung DVD-ROM SD-612S.

Problem: When I try to watch DVD it runs 2-3 seconds fine and then halts for
20-30 sec, contiunes for 2-3 sec and then again. Picture and voice are fine.
It takes about minute-3 minutes to get it even work. Suprisingly there are
some trailers on DVD which work fine. Also addition videos work really fine.
I've tried to use Windows Media player 9, PowerDVD, WinDVD 2000 and WinDVD 5
and them all have the same problem.

Is this that ULTIMATE MEDIA EXPERIENCE what XP was about?? I'm very
dissapointted since i've tried solve the problem for many weeks and many
nights.

Try updating the display and the DVD software to the latest XP drivers
available on the respective sites. Jym

Where I can get such software? I've updated my display driver and i guess
that at least windows media player 9 is compitible with windows xp. Also
powerDVD 5 should be fine for this :P

Anyway thanks for help.

You already have the dvd decoder software in the products that you have
mentioned. Check to be sure that they are XP compatible. Jym

I guess them are compitible with XP.

I dont know is it rumor or something but my buddy has actually player DVDs
with his XP with PowerDVD 5.. So I guess that it is possible to play videos
on XP or what do you think? :P I'm very unhappy of this situation and hope
that I will find answer..

I've tried it but it didn't helped.

Problem sounds very much like what I experience but it didn't changed
anything.

Try removing all your DVD software and reinstalling the WinDVD 5. Removing
and reinstalling software works most of the time. It did work properly in
Win 98 with the same dvd player and video card? Jym

Removed all DVD software, booted up, reinstalled WinDVD 5. Didn't worked..

Yes on previous version (win 98) it worked fine and on other computer with
same player and video card with windows ME it works fine
