Cannot ping myself

I have a problem I cannot ping myself.
I tried ping the machine name and also the IP address all got request time
out.

Perhaps your firewall is blocking it?

Or, if you've got one, your router.

BTW, to test your network card ping 127.0.0.1 (the "loopback" address.)
