Hi,
I am trying to get to the "Volume Control Window" - by
double-clicking on the speaker icon in the taskbar-
however when I do that I see it open in the tray but I
don't see anything on the screen?!?! Same results if I
click on "Advanced" button in "Sounds and Audio Devices
Properties". Any idea why this is happening? I remember
this used to work a few weeks back and I haven't installed
anything new on the PC.
I am able to left click once on the speaker icon in the
taskbar to adjust the volume but how do I get to the
advanced window?!?!

thanks,
A

Right click on speaker icon > click Open Volume Control > choose Options
then Advanced Controls.

When i do just that I a faced with the same problem: when I right click on speaker icon > click Open Volume Control I see the "Master Volume" window in the taskbar BUT I am unable to see the actual window associated with it?!?

Any other ideas/suggestions?

For future reference: I solved the problem: I opened the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" window, clicked on the "Voice" tab, then clicked on "Test Hardware..." button at the bottom and went thru the test hardware wizard.
