Running XP Pro SP2.

If I try to click on a thumbnail on a website such as an auctionsite where
the larger picture should appear in a new window nothing happens. The new
window does not open at all.

The second or third time I click on the thumb the upper blue frame goes pale
blue. Sometimes when I click I can see the new window come up for a
supershort time before it disappears.

I also run Ad-Watch and I know it can block new windows like this, but it
happens even with "monitoring off". I even unistalled it but it made no
difference.

I have the same problem with links in emails - they will not open at all.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions!

Try to update/reinstall your scripting engines from here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

If still no joy, go to File Types (My Computer...Tools...Folder
Options...File Types tab)
Scroll down to the URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocol file type, click to
highlight, click Edit, click Open, click Edit (slightly different with Me -
click to highlight, click Advanced, click Open, click Edit).

Application used: "C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" -nohome
Use DDE box should be checked
DDE Message: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
Application: IExplore
DDE...not running: <blank>
Topic: WWW_OpenURL

Okay out.
