If you know what the problem is please reply.
THanks

Some search engine may have hijacked your Search.

2. Use the following scanners to find and remove the website.

SpyBot S&D searches your harddisk for so-called spy- or adbots;
http://security.kolla.de/
or
Adaware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
or
CWShredder
http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html

3. Some porn websites redirects links to their websites using your HOSTS
file. Do a search for the HOSTS (without extension) file and remove the
entry.

4. If still no joy, download HijackThis from Spywareinfo download page

http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php

Run the program and you will find many entries. Most are OK. Post the log. I
will find the problem for you.

5. For future preventive maintenance, make sure programs cannot just
download on your computer without your permission. From the Internet
Toolbar, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Make sure "Enable
Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)" and "Enable Install On Demand
(Other)" are unchecked.

I had the same problem and the problem didn't go away until I reloaded windows. Hopefully there is an easier fis for this.

Hi again

i ran Adaware and Spybot S&D and removed various threats. Yet i still cannot "open search page" with IE. I couldn't download CWShredder and therefore don't know how that would have worked out and when i went to spywareinfo.com i didn't know what to download so i could not post the log files as you requested. Could you please give me the exact URL to the spywareinfo.com program and i will try to post the log asap. Oh and i went to Add/Remove Programs and found that i have ShopAtHomeSelect Agent and upon trying to uninstall it it says it will complete uninstallation when rebooted. Yet it remains there when i reboot. Also i just remembered that it might be connected to iMesh as i just installed it.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

If you find this one get the removal tool.

ShopAtHomeSelect http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/ShopAtHomeSelect.html
Quoted from the page.

Removal
There should be an entry in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs entry
for 'ShopAtHomeSelect Agent'. Use it to remove the software then restart the
computer.

You can delete the damaged '{30402FF4-3E71-4A1C-9B4B-1CD3486A9FB2}' entry
inside the 'Downloaded Program Files' folder, the 'SAHUninstall.exe' file in
the 'Windows' folder and 'SahAgent.log' in the root of the C: drive to clean
up if you like.

If the entry for ShopAtHomeSelect remains in your Add/Remove Programs even
though the software is uninstalled, you can get rid of it by opening the
registry (Start->Run->regedit) and deleting the key
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Shop
AtHomeSelect Agent'.

Manual removal
As with all software that uses Winsock2 LSPs, you should be very careful
removing ShopAtHomeSelect by hand: if you slip up you may lose all
networking ability.

First, open the registry (Start->Open->regedit) and find the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run . Delete
the 'SAHAgent' entry.

Next, deregister the LSP part of ShopAtHomeSelect. The easiest way to do
this is to use a tool such as LSPFix. Tell it to 'Remove' lsp.dll and 'Keep'
the rest.

(It is possible to remove LSPs by hand by editing the registry, but it's
quite a bit of effort and it's easy to make a mistake. If you want to try
anyway, run 'regedit' and find the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2\Parameters\Pro
tocol_Catalog9 . For each key in Catalog_Entries, open the
'PackedCatalogItem' value and check if it starts with 'lsp.dll'. If it does
delete that entry. Renumber the remaining keys so that they count up from
000000000001 one at a time, and set the 'Num_Catalog_Entries' value in
Protocol_Catalog9 to the highest key number you have. See, I told you it was
a lot of effort.)

Next, open a DOS command prompt window (from Start->Programs->Accessories)
and enter the commands:

cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u "..\Downloaded Program Files\WEBinstaller.dll"
cd "..\Downloaded Program Files"
del WEBinstaller.dll
del SAH*.exe
Restart the computer and you should be able to delete the files
'tracking.tmp', 'vg.dat', 'v.dat', 'lsp.dll', 'SahDownloader.exe' and
'SahAgent.exe' from the System folder (inside the Windows folder; called
'System' on Windows 95/98/Me or 'System32' under Windows NT/2000/XP). You
can also delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VGroup to clean
up if you like.
