I have been using Quiken with XP for many years. I'm not doing any internet
banking, I just keep track of my accounts. The last time I tried to open
Quicken, I got the error message "C:\Windows\System32\autoexec.nt", "This
system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS & Microsoft Windowa
applications..."
Any ideas?

-this is the first time I've ever posted a message ANYWHERE!! If I've made
some glaring error or have posted this in the wrong area, I'd appreciate some
guidance.
Thanks!

c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS
and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate the application.

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based program

Replace the standard version of autoexec.nt/config.nt by copying a backup copy
located in %windir%\repair\ to %windir%\system32\
(NB: %windir% is typically C:\Windows)

Start>Run and type it this without the quotes:
"cmd /c copy /y %windir%\repair\autoexec.nt %windir%\system32"

Also can be caused by a Trojan installing a file windupdater.exe and

AVAST (free antivirus software) can be the cause if SP2 is installed:
