Hi,
I am getting this error message when trying to play a
*.dat file.

Cannot open. Please verify that the path and filename are
correct and try again. (Error=80070001)

.dat files can not be played. .dat files are data files. Hope this
helps.

wrong! .dat files are also video files from vcd and dvd discs. You need to
have a third party DVD player installed, such as PowerDVD or WinDVD, and
then you'll be able to play .dat files in Media Player.

I reckon I stand corrected. There so many ways to learn stuff here at
these Newsgroups. And I just love the friendly way the lessons are
delivered.

Also remember the 1/99 Rule: One "stands corrected" negates 99
Attaboys. You are now negative 99 Attaboys, needing a perfect record of
100 to get into the plus column. ; -).
