cannot open new or old appointments in outlook 2003

When tryingto enter directly into the calendar I would get a message"Cannot
Save" with and OK button or nothing would happen when I used the New
(Appointment) button. Alas!
After running all my different "Anti" software and rebooting windows it
worked.
