Hi,

I'm experiencing a problem opening up links in a webpage and from my email.
When I click, a new page opens with an address in the address bar but, the
page is blank. I've read a number of suggestions to remedy this problem, as
it seems others have experienced it too.

I've tried all of nass' suggestions to Doc Jim's inquiry on 3/5/07. I read
and followed the suggestions to venezia's similar question on 7/20/05. I
also followed Kath Adams suggestions to Randy Davis' inquiry dated 7/26/05.
Terry had a similar question on 11/6/05, etc., etc. I also went to
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 and re-registered the files
recommended in the article:
• Urlmon.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Shell32.dll
• Shdocvw.dll

Mshtml.dll failed. !The RegSvr box stated: Mshtml.dll was loaded, but the
DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file can not be registered.

Could this be the source of my difficulty?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi nass,

Thank you for all the ideas you gave me:
I did scan for virus/malware with latest updates.
I don't have a third-party toolbar installed but, do have "McAfee
SiteAdvisor" add-on, which I disabled until I figure out a remedy.
I'm not sure whether I installed the Beta version of IE7 or not, though!
The anti-virus programs I have installed are Symantic and AVG Free Edition.
I set the IE7 browser security settings to "Medium".

I'll try the IE7 NG; I didn't know where it was. I appreciate the link.

Thank you for your help, nass.

Hi,
Did make sure your computer is malwares free and Viruses free, by scanning
for them by up2date software?.
Do you have any third party toolbar installed on your computer?.
Does your IE7 is the latest version not the beta version?.
What Anti-Virus you have installed on your system and what your security
settings on the IE web browser?.
My advise to you post all these info to the IE7 Newsgroup, there are experts
there will help you solve your issue, if scanning and uninstalling
third-party toolbar ( if they exist) solved your issue.
Here is the link for IE7 NG and there are some post like your on that link
so go through them and then post if you didn't find the answer:

HTH.

Hi nass,

You gave me a hint in your previous post about the possibility that I
installed the beta version of IE7. Do you know how I can verify that? If I
can, how do I uninsall it and retrieve the newest version?

Thanks,
Cent

Hi cent,
Usually if you click About from Help option on the IE7 web page it will tell
you what version you have installed.
Did you got this version through the updates from Ms update or you download
it from a long time and started to nag with you now?.

Here is a link you can download the latest version first on your desktop
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3385-447c-8a30-081805b2f90b&DisplayLang=en
Then Disconnect from the Internet and turn the Anti-Virus OFF and go to
Control panel >> Add/Remove ( check show all updates on the top check box)
and uninstall the IE7 package, then reboot your machine and install from the
download folder on your Desktop.
HTH.
Good luck.

You are welcome and good luck.
But I will advise on the multi-Anti-virus applications installed, try to
keep just one and have two anti-Spyware and from time to time scan from an
online scanners to make sure that Av doing the job okay, as having
multi-Anti-virus can make things worse than secure ( conflict wise).

Hi Cent,
You have the latest Version of IE7, I will give the guys at the IE7 a try,
they may be have the fix for you, my worries is you could go ahead and
uninstall the IE7 version with another one and the MSHTML.dll haunt you on
the new installation.
If you would like to try, uninstall it and Run a disk clean Up and defrag
your computer then Turn the Anti-virus OFF and install the download version.
HTH.
Good luck.

Hi nass,

I think I'll take your suggestion and hold off with the uninstall/reinstall
of IE7 because of that hanging Mshtml.dll question until I find another
avenue.

Thanks for all your help with me, nass.

Hi Cent,
You are welcome, but you have a mesh mash collections here, McAfee site
advisor, which making trouble to me too here, slowing things down a little
bit and you have Symantec and AVG, you only need good one and rest go home.
But try the IE7 and please let them know all about this as it will help them
pin point the exact cause of your issue.
Good luck.

Hi nass,

I did find the version of IE7 I installed (version 7.0.5730.11). Thanks. I
don't know if this is the beta version or not, though. Would it be obvious
to me? Would you advise to uninstall/reinstall it anyway? (Thank you for
the instructions as to how to do so, in any case.)

Grateful,
Cent

Hi again nass,

I'll heed your advice on the security issues. That Mshtml.dll failure to
re-register bothers me. I'll try the IE7 NG as you suggested.
Thanks so much for your time and interest.

Sincerely,
Cent

PA Bear,

Thank you for redirecting me. I apologize for posting in the wrong newsgroup.

Sincerely,
Cent
