I cannot open any images that are sent via email to me. A
dialog box appears and says:

"Windows cannot open this file. To open this file,
Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows
can go online to look it up automatically or you can
manually select from a list of programs on your computer"

When I select any sort of program to open it, it just
takes me back through the same cycle to this dialog box
again. I've looked all over the knowledge base but I
can't find any information on this problem.

Also, for further information, this problem started when I
installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on the machine. Any ideas?????

What happens if you select "Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer"?

I assume the attached files are .jpgs? Some
file formats are native to the program that
created them and if you do not have the same
program you cannot view them.

Try resetting your file associations...

Open a folder that contains .jpg files...
Right click a .jpg file and choose Properties /
Change Button...choose the program you wish
to use (windows picture and fax viewer) and
click...OK / Apply / OK.

If that doesn't work, it may be worth a try to
open Outlook Express and go to...Tools /
Options / Security tab......uncheck...
"Do Not Allow Attachments, etc. / Apply / OK.
