Cannot open forwarded contacts

I have an issue with some of my outlook 2003 users receiving contacts
forwarded to them from other users. It shows up as an attachment, but when
you click to open it, it just opens as a text email and not in the contacts
format that it does on Outlook 2k.

I can receive contacts from them that, when clicked on, opens in the
contacts form so all I have to do is click "Save" and it's now in my personal
contacts list. However, they are not able to do that in Outlook 2003. Is
there some type of setting that's stripping the contact attachement out of
the email?

If anyone needs any further details, feel free to ask. I hope I explained it
well enough.

It seems it might be relevant to know how these Contacts were forwarded.
Inserting them as Outlook Items in RTF messages would probably work the way
you seem to want it to.

I'm using RTF and I go to the contacts, right click on a contact and click on
forward. I type in one of our outlook 2003 users email addy and click send.
The user receives them as an attachment, but when he opens it, it just
appears as a regular text document. When hey forwards it back to me it's a
regular text document.

If I forward one to one of my Outlook 2k Pro clients, when they click on the
attachment, it opens the contact box as if they went into the contacts and
clicked "New Contact".

Hope that helps explain things a bit more. Thanks for the response.

Please try what I suggested. Do not forward the Contact. Insert it as an
Outlook Item.

Ok, I tried it the way you suggested and when he was here on our local
network, it worked great. Sending journal entries to him that way failed
though.

I received an email from him last night that said when he was offsite and
using the pop account, it wasn't working again even inserting it as an
outlook item.

I don't understand why it would work fine while he was connected to the
local network, and not work when he was not connected to our network. He
could send and receive regular emails fine.

I can't follow your trail here. I have no idea what you mean by "on our

I have a salesman that has a laptop. While in the office, he is connected to
our local network. He access his email via a pop account. We do not store
any email on our email server, it's all downloaded to each users local
computer.

While he is in the office and connected to our network, the solution you
gave me works great. If he is offsite, say at kinkos and hooks up to the
internet through their network, he can send and receive email over his
company pop account just fine but when it comes to sending contacts, even
using the way you advised, it shows up as a plain text email.

Sorry if I got you confused. I hope this explains things a little better.

So I assume everyone is using POP accounts and PST's?
Have you examined the Internet format specified for the recipients who are
not receiving the Outlook Items?

Only our laptop users are using the pop accounts. Everyone is going to a pst
though. We have tried switching the users laptop between RTF and HTML format
(I'm assuming that's what you're talking about). We have the same issue no
matter what format we use.
