Susan I don't know how to ask this question any other way. What are the last
three letters in the file name? That will give us a clue as to which program
may be able to read the file.

thanks for you help Harry,
the information was originally from a web site i used
to register my details, which i think only the university and I had access
to
as it is my own personal account. i saved it by going to FILE, SAVE IN
DOCUMENTS FOLDER, i have tried again to open it and it asks me to select
a
program, which automaticaly highlights adobe reader (does this mean it is
a
.pdf file?) however when adobe tries to open it i get :could not open file
because it is either not a supported file or it was sent as an email
attchment and wasn,t properly decoded.
:
I should have also asked how did you save this file? Was it just a
webpage
or was it a link to a document. Are the last three letters .PDF ? If so
you
will need Adobe Reader. It is free

What type of files are these? You need to have a program installed that
is
capable of opening those files and those files need to be associated
with
that application. Post back with the last three letters of the file
(the
file extension letters that come after the "." for example Microsoft
Word
files are general .DOC , text files are .TXT and some graphics files
are
.JPG or .BMP
