I view all email in text only, the way it was meant to be.
Additionally, i closed the preview window on email, so i
have to actually open them to read. Clicking on them, i
can delete without even seeing the text. This has worked
fine for ages, until one day i could not open
attachments ....
I still say it was a bad idea, your kludge around it works
but takes too many steps for my tastes. I also think
showing html by default and running scripts are bad ideas,
but not in the top 10 like the attachment thingy, just
more eye candy to degrade performance. Ignorant users are
going to get viruses. You cant stop this. Now, we have a
setting that confuses them, they get here, we tell them to
uncheck it, and they are right back where they were before
the patch, except they lost some productivity getting the
fix...
Oh, and another top 10 dumb idea:
the shscrap thing. who wants an EXECUTABLE, HIDDEN,NO
MATTER WHAT YOU DO CANNOT SEE THE TYPE FILE????????? This
caused one of the only viruses I have ever had. Because it
was on by default, and the extension was hidden beyond
anything I have ever seen. And the virus was newer than
norton's definations when I got it.
In general Im a MS fan, but any large company is going to
have a bad idea or two. Its not an insult, or not meant
to be. And of course you can't please everyone =)
