Cannot open attachments in Windows Mail

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista. I cannot open any
attachments in E Mails in Windows Mail. I can save the attachments to a new
folder and open them from there. I get an error message telling me that
there is not a program associate with the attachment when trying to open
from Windows Mail. Is there anything I can do??
 
It depends with what the attachment was created with as to whether you can
open it.
eg a .doc or xls file requires MS Office or the Office viewer

Please tell us the type of file that is affected, .jpg .pps etc
 
I am also having problems opening any attachments. If I try to open by
clicking on the paper click nothing. If I try to save it I get the
error-"There was an error saving one or more of the attachments. Please check
your free disk space and try again". I have plenty of free disk space. I have
looked at the different e-mails concerning this issue and tried everything.
Nothing works! Any help would be greatley appreciated. I have already done a
restore to 3 November and that did nothing to help the attachment issue. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!
 
Saying you "tried everything" doesn't tell us what all you've tried so far.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.
