Cannot Open any databases without a specific error message

I am currently using Access 2000 on a Windows XP professional machine.
Whenever I try to open any database I get a message saying "An error
occured and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you
like to repair this feature now?" I click yes, with the Office 2000
cd in the cd-rom, and it goes through with the process. I have tried
uninstalling Access, but some of the installation lingers, so it is
not a complete uninstall. I have also service packed the office
install with 1,2,and three, and it still gives me the error message.
I am starting to run out of ideas, and help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi Jason,

Can you just click on the Access icon
and open Access properly?

Is there a chance you installed Office as Administrator
and now you are logged into XP as another user?

This could just be a permission issue.

If you log in as Administrator and open up
NorthWind.mdb, do you get this error?

There were initial problems with Office 2000
that produced this error
(pathname > 64 chars, Help not installed),
but I think they were all fixed by updates.

I could also be completely wrong.
