cannot move mp3 files acroos network

J

JOHN WELLS

I am trying to move a mp3 file from my WindowsXP machine to my Win98
machine. My Windows98 machine can see the share directory and the
files. I can copy non-mp3 files from that directory with no problems.
If I choose a mp3 file it says that the file maybe in use by another
program. I'm sure that it is some kind of digital media protection. I
can't even rename the file and move it. Can someone clue me in on how
to correct this? These files should not be protected in any way. They
are just songs from a local garage band. Its frustrating that I can't
do something simple on my own computer.

Thanks for any and all help.

FWIW, I just tried copying an MP3 from my XP
to a Win98 machine -- no problem. I even had
Media Player running (though not playing that song).

You might try rebooting in case something's got the
file tied up.
