Hi,

ive got a strange problem @ a customer of me.

Running a SBS2003 with W2K client. Mail client is OUTLOOK2000.

On one machine i have a really strange problem.
When i try to configure OUTLOOK to use EXCHANGE SERVER > type in SERVER name
(also tried by IP) and Mailbox name then it gives me an error THAT HE CANT
LOOKUP THE EXCHANGE SERVER ADDRESS BOOK.....

Outlook WEB ACCESS works fine.
Also added this USER on another machine (username for logon W2K, and same
for Outlook-profile) then it works fine.
It's just on this one machine that it wont work.

I also uninstalled OFFICE 2000, done the PROFILE REMOVAL TOOL to clean out
the registry (Office Resource ToolKit), and done a REMOVE OFFICE FILES (also
Office Resource ToolKit).. Reinstall, all OfficeUpdates and still the same.
--> installing Outlook 2003 gives me the same error.

Does anybody have a clue ???

(also tried using ADMINISTRATOR as logon for W2K AND Outlook and also the
same)

Greetings,
Wim

Are you sure the error message is "Lookup" and not logon? The reason that I
ask is that if the error message is logon, then it is possible that the
workstation is just missing some keys that deal with RPC. If you
uninstall/reinstall TCP/IP, the problem will be resolved.

If it really is Lookup, remember that it is the Global Catalog server that
provides address book service to the desktop under Exchange 2000/2003.
Therefore make sure the desktop is using the same DNS entries as your
servers and not accidentally pointing somewhere else like an ISP.
