cannot logon after upgrade

I upgraded from 98se to 2000. All that went well.
The only problem is now when the logon screen appears and I put in the
username and password the logon screen goes away for about 5 seconds and
then reappears again. This happens no matter how many times I try to logon.
So far after the upgrade I have not been able to logon for the first time
after the upgrade.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you getting any error messages ??

No, I am not getting any error message at all. I just
goes back to the log in screen after 5 or 10 seconds. Any
suggestions?
 
Did you insert a passwort while the setup ran and a dialog asked for?
Try administrator as username and your passwort or none (?) as passwort.
