Hi, on my laptop i have 2 accounts, an administrator one and a user one. This morning i logged on and accessed the internet using my administrator account and all seemed fine. I left the computer for about an hour, still connected, and when i logged back on with my password, there were a load of different programmes running (6 by 3 inch boxes, white writing on black background). This had never happened before so i shut everything off. However, when I later restarted the laptop I could not log back on as administrator and I can still only log on using my second 'user' account.

When i start the computer i am given the choice of the 2 accounts, but if i try using the administrator account, i get the message 'loading your personal settings' but that's it, nothing happens and the cursor just flickers.

As I cannot log on as administrator I can't use any system recovery tools. Any ideas / help would be most appreciated??

Hi Paolo,

Go to Run and type 'control userpasswords2' (without the quotation
marks). It will ask for your administrator password, enter it, selec
the account you're using and click on properties.

Then go to the Tab 'groups,' tick 'others' and in the drop down menu
that appears, select 'Administrators.' OK your way out.

This should give your account administrative privileges.

Good luck
