I installed the Antispyware program, did a scan, removed
the things it told me to and then restarted my computer.
My computer is set up so that I have to press
ctrl+alt+del in order to get to the log on screen where I
type my username and password. When I now press
ctrl+alt+del when I restart my computer, nothign happens,
the screen does not change for me to type in my name and
password. I even tried to restart the computer in safe
mode and still the same problem.

Can anyone help? Thanks...

If you are in the U.S. or Canada, you can get free help from Microsoft Pss
for issues involving viruses or spyware. 1-866-pcsafety.

They cannot give help related to the operation of the beta antispyware
program--beta programs have no support. However, if you describe your issue
as having followd on removal of spyware, they should help--Microsoft
Antispyware is one of the tools they would recommend that you use.

Let us know how this comes out?

I called dell and they tried to get me to do some
different types of boots and tried to get my computer
back to its original state but it didn't work. They said
I should repair my OS by going through my xp pro
reinstallation cd. So hopefully this works. If not, I
don't know what else to do...

A repair installation, if possible with your media, should do the job, but I
was hoping for something easier. Were they clear about whether you can do a
repair install--which typically leaves everything in place--or would you be
restoring to the state the machine was in when new--which some restore disks
result in--all user data and added programs are lost.

I'd recommend calling Microsoft if you haven't already started this process.

Excuse me for this simple and maybe stupid suggestion - but isn't that a
hardware problem?
Does the Ctrl+Alt+Del combination work BEFORE the system starts to load
(i.e. the computer performs soft reset)? If no, then have you tried to
attach and check with any other keyboard?
