I set up a wireless router and the configuration somehow
erased my password to log in to Windows at start-up. Does
anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix this?

Do you mean your domain account or the local account?

Is this on a DC or a member server or a client member or a stand alone
client?

What version of Windows?

Also, with all due respect, I'm not undertanding how setting up a router
config (wireless or not) will alter your Windows settings, domain or stand
alone. Something else must have been changed in WIndows or the domain during
that time.

I'm not sure if it's domain or local account. All that I
know is that when I boot my computer, I can't do anything
because I don't have the correct password.

I do receive information from a server, but I don't see
how I can't even get access to this computer.

I am using Window 2000 Professional.

I agree that setting up a router would interfere, but that
is what I did before all this happened.

It's easy to tell whether logging in to a domain or the local machine. This
is actually rudimentary network basics. Are you an admin?

In the logon box, there's 3 sections:
1 username
2 password
3 domainname or machinename

In the 3rd box, what shows up? Your machine name or the domain name?

And I never said that setting up a router would interfere. What I said was
that it can't, unless you typoed.

It only asks for username and password. There is no 3rd
entry.

I am not the admin, but I was wondering if this problem
could be fixed from the server?

It is also possible that my version of Windows is
different than the server. I have noticed that other
computers around the shop have different versions.

If you hit the 'Options' button, it will display the third line. That line
will tell you what you're trying to log into. If it's the domain name, you
have to ask your admin to reset your password and wouldn't matter what
version of Windows it is compared to the domain controllers (your servers).

If it's the machinename, then you wouldn't be able to logon to it anyway in
most cases in a company environment.
