A curcuit breaker went bad and turned aff all my
computers in a lab. We log on to a Server 2000 machine
and are running XP. Now when I try to login on some of
the machines I get an error :cannot load profile" and can
not login with that user. I need that user.

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi, Brian -

If you haven't logged on the machine at all since the
power failure you can try hitting F8 just as Windows
starts and select "Last Known Good Configuration" from
the startup menu.

If anyone has successfully logged on to the machine since
the power failure this isn't likely to work.

Another thing you might try is using System Restore and
selecting a restore point prior to the power failure -
you'll need to log on to the machine as a user with
administrator access, though.

good luck!

One option is to log on under a different account. Move any key data files
from the problematic profile to a safe location, then use the User Profile
tool from the system profile settings advanced tab and remove the corrupted
profile, log off and log in under the former account.

This should recreate your desired profile now move your data files back
over.
