Cannot load NIC drivers

I have a Pentium 200MMX computer running W2k Version 5.0. I want to install
a Linksys LNE100TX version 4.1 NIC card. I have tried each of two in two
different slots in this computer. They are detected but when I try to load
the drivers the computer locks up with a blank screen. All the lights are
lit on the hub. I have used the software that came with the cards as well
as drivers which I downloaded from Linksys, all with the same result. When
I install one of the cards on an old Pentiun with W98, there is no problem.
I'm suspicious there is a problem with W2k, but I do not know where to
start. Will someone please make a suggestion?

Thanks,

Karl

I would suspect incompatibility problems with other hardware. Possibly the
system bios. I still have a 200 pent-pro and I wouldn't even attempt Windows
2000 on it. It still rocks with Windows NT4 server though.

Not sure if you are installing the NIC from a setup type install or if you
are going through the device manager to install drivers. If possible, try
to install by the latter. I have had several issues with older machines on
NIC cards install and it almost always worked around using device manager to
install/update driver.
