cannot load IE or launch a window

If I try to load IE6, nothing happens, nothing goes into task manager.

If I double click "My Computer" all the icons on the desktop temporarily
disappear then come back, but nothing loads or shows.

My PC has been off for a couple of weeks and when turned on the above
started happening.

Has anybody any ideas please. I dont really want to have to re-install.

Same thing happened to me... I couldn't open IE, windows
explorer or my control panel...

Go into Safe mode, open internet explorer and under Tools
internet options > advanced tab > under browsing, clear

the Enable third party browser extension check box. then
restart.
 
Im having the same problem... Unchecking the "Enable
third party browser extension" check box didn't solve it
though.

Yes, seems quite a few people are experiencing this same
problem!!
I'm curious if the clear "Enable 3rd party browser"
solved this problem for you?
Respond please...i'd sure like to know. I've been
fighting this for days now.
