When I attempt to launch a file (EXE, TXT, XLS, etc.) from a web link, the
associated program is opened but the file I am attempting to open is not
opened. For instance, if I click a link to a text file, my text editor is
opened but is not passed the data from the text file on the web page.

I am running Windows XP, SP2 with IE6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158;
128-bit cipher strength.

Please provide suggestions as to how to repair this issue.

Thank you.

Try clearing your TIF. Do this with no other applications open
which might interfere with the operation, including IE, OE and
especially certain anti-virus scanners. E.g. Run... Control inetcpl.cpl
while all those things are closed and use its Delete Files... command
and check the box to Delete all offline content.

After that if the problem persists I would suspect your anti-virus
scanner. Try running with that disabled and see if the symptom
changes.

Thank you.

Good luck
