Kenneth McGeechan

I am unable to intall any new XP updates - my computer will download them
with no problem but hangs for about 10-15 mins when it tries to install
them, then a window pops up saying that they are not XP certified and will
not install - If anyone can help me with some ideas I would give them a big
hug and kiss, or if that scrares them, a hearty handshake.

thanks

What is the eact text of the error message?

It may be necessary to complete a Repair Installation of XP in order to correct any corrupt files on the system; however one requires the detail of the error message first.

Kenneth,

Are either of these 2 the specific error message ? :

" The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo
testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why
this testing is important.)
This software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator.

The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing
to verify its compatibility with this version of Windows. (Tell me
why this testing is important.) "

If yes, go here and start with Method 4 . If no joy, start with
Method 1 and continue down the list :

You cannot install some updates or programs
