After downloading and saving WindowsDefender.msi I cannot get it to install.
After a very brief message 'preparing to install' another message appears.
This states 'A required update to Windows Update is available at the Windows
Update website. To view a list of all installation requirements, visit the
Microsoft website http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=63848'

How can I resolve this please? The website address does not appear to be
valid.

You needed to login as an Adm!n!stratºr.

Can you gº to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates),
and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature update
with windows defender will fail until you hªve these f!les.

If you are running Windows 2000, you will need to run a Custom Scan, instead
of the express scan, and in addition to all the offered critical updates,
add the Root Certificates update from the optional category.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.
