Hi,

Click Start, Run and type this command:

Hi Riptorn,

Click Start, Run and type %temp% and press ENTER. Delete all the files in the TEMP folder (ignore "file in use" error messages).

Open the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility's setup wrapper file "msicuu2.exe" using WinZip (third-party zip handler tool) and extract the following files to a folder on your Desktop.

msicuu.exe
msicuu.msi
MsiZapA.exe
MsiZapU.exe
readme.txt
StartMsi.vbs

Then open the folder where you extracted the above files. Double-click StartMsi.vbs to run it.

Hello,
I am having a similar problem and have tried the options below but I keep
getting a failed install of the Windows Installer CU -
"msicuu.msi is not a valid installation package for the product Windows
Installer Clean Up."

This all started when I upgraded my hard drive. When I start Outlook or any
Office app now, the Windows Installer starts and errors out with " An error
occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run
Setup and select "Repair..." to restore this application." Well I can't run
setup because the Windows Installer won't run, Windows Installer Cleanup
won't install and I can't reinstall Office either.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am having a similar problem and have tried the options below but I keep
getting a failed install of the Windows Installer CU -
"msicuu.msi is not a valid installation package for the product Windows
Installer Clean Up."

This all started when I upgraded my hard drive. When I start Outlook or any
Office app now, the Windows Installer starts and errors out with " An error
occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run
Setup and select "Repair..." to restore this application." Well I can't run
setup because the Windows Installer won't run, Windows Installer Cleanup
won't install and I can't reinstall Office either.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Tom

I am having a simular problem.
I am trying to load ver. 3, however, I have version 2.05 installed, WHen I
try to load ver 3, I get the message cant find msicuu.msi, to uninstall ver
2.05. I get same message when I try to uninstall ver 2.05 through add or
remove programs.

I also tried to use the ver 2.05 utility to remove itself.. wont go away.

any help would be greatly apprciated.

THanks
Andy

I discovered that msicuu2.exe did install from GUI when downloaded to system
drive Desktop, but not from my data drive folder. The latter gave the
diagnostic "not a win32 application".
