Tried to install, but get message: There is no disk in the drive. Restart
does not help
How, exactly, did you burn the image you downloaded?
You cannot just burn the ISO file to a CD. You must use your burn software's
"burn image to disk" option to create and installable CD.
If you tell us which burn software you are using, I'm sure somebody here
will be able to provide specific instructions.

I did not burn a disk,( though I have a blank disk in the drive).

I downloaded visual C++ Express Edition from (step 2 download)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualc/download/.

This resulted in a vcsetup.exe, which I double clicked to run.
The setup gets through the steps of loading all the components.
But then comes the message: There is no disk in the drive.

Setup has detected that Windows XP SP2 must be installed before installing
Visual Studio.
All efforts to install SP2 lead me to Windows Update.
But Update tells me I have everything installed.

Thank you, Gerhard
