I cannot install the software for my HP PSC 750 all-in-one on a new Vista
machine. I seem to recall reading some months ago (when it was not a
priority for me!) that one can scan using a MS graphics program.
I can print and I can copy to paper; I just cannot scan.
I would be grateful for any ideas!
Hi Bernard,
I have an HP OfficeJet 7410 All-in-One. HP's All-in-One software for that
model seemed to install okay on Vista; although, it's a pretty heavyweight
solution (about 200MB, I think! with multiple systray applets running
constantly in the background). On another Vista machine, I just have the
7410 printer driver and fax driver installed, and use MS Office's Document
Imaging Tools, to scan docs. This seems to work just as well as the full HP
kit, and is much less resource-intensive.
I'm using Office 2007 Ultimate - but I think the Imaging Tools are in most
editions of Office. To install, run Office Setup (eg from Programs and
Features in Control Panel) and select the "Document Imaging" option under
the Office Tools branch of the setup options.
That includes scanning, OCR, etc. It seems to work pretty well, for my
purposes anyway.
Hope it helps,
Andrew
