Have a LXE VX4 forklift computer. Tried installing SP4 after removing I.I.S.
(Microsoft's KB article) and the SP4 still fails. I was able to move from SP2
to SP3. The SP4 install almost completes then it always fails. LXE says they
only support SP2. However, we had SP4 installed a few years ago on this same
VX4. Need to get SP4 on this system.

I have the svcpack.log file. However, what do I look for to find the problem.
I could send the file. - Thanks

Look for the file %systemroot%\Svcpack.log and check for errors.

Look for lines with error in them as possible clues. Also try from a 'Safe
Mode' boot. You can also send it and I'll take a look.

svcpack.log file? -Thanks

Remove the "nospam." in the published email address in the headers of his
post.

I still don't know what email address to send the svcpack.log file.

Select a message from from Mssr. Dave Patrick in your newsreader.

Right-click it and select "Properties"
Look for the email address on any tab.
Remove the "nospam." munge from the address, and you have it.

That depends on the newsreader. You're using OE and I presume it works
for that reader. I'm using Thunderbird and that procedure doesn't work
there. The poster is using "Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000" (whatever
that is) and I've no idea whether it would work for him.

In any event, most readers show the "From:" field when you open a
message and the munged address can be got from that and unmunged.
Failing that, there should be an option in the reader to show the header
for a message to get the address from.

Looking at the logs you might try;

sfc /purgecache
sfc /scannow

If the problem persists, you'll likely need to perform an in-place upgrade.

Then

and

In either case I'd be prepared to reinstall the operating system if
necessary.
