Cannot install Acobat Reader

I have tried many times to install Acrobat Reader version 7.x and each time
the file upon opening says something to this effect:

Cannot find the program associated . Go to Control Panel and create an
association"

That makes to me no sense since I do not now have Acrobat Reader on my
system and that is obviously the program it wants to be associated with.

I tried many different sites for download and it is always the same. (cannot
find association)

Why is that and what do I need to do to overcome this obstacle?

Try asking them here.
