i wondered if anyone can indiate how to inset excel files into word [i also want to link]?... it 'used to be easy' on older versions but this is presently not the case...files come in looking totally messed up, looking like machine language. Window that pops up requests "what file conversion" I want to use? It wonders if my text encodes 1] windows 2] ms-dos or 3]other with a choice of many non english languages.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?ZnJlZA==?=,
i wondered if anyone can indiate how to inset excel files into word [i
also want to link]?... it 'used to be easy' on older versions but this is
presently not the case...files come in looking totally messed up, looking
like machine language. Window that pops up requests "what file conversion" I
want to use? It wonders if my text encodes 1] windows 2] ms-dos or 3]other
with a choice of many non english languages.I dunno, this doesn't sound like anything I usually see...

My preference is to copy the range in Excel and use Edit/Paste Special in
Word. It's also possible to use the new Paste Options button that appears
just below and to the right of the pasted Excel range, if that gives you a
result you want.

"Totally messed up" is a bit vague; I have trouble envisioning exactly what
it is that's bothering you. "Machine language" implies that Courier New is
being applied as the font? "File conversion" doesn't sound right at all...
Are you trying to use the Insert/File command?
