Hi,
I have Windows Movie Maker version 2.1.4026.0 and operating system is
Windows XP with SP-2.
The program was working fine, but now whenever I try to import files its
gives following error message

C:\Documents and Settings\CoolDude\My Documents\My Pictures\image1.jpg could
not be imported. Unspecified error
Same error comes when I tried Importing any other kinda file.

I have seen many people have come across this problem. Was anybody able to
fix it?
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,
I have tried that, i tried importing the .bmp files as well but nothing
works. There is one thing I noticed, After I get that error message
(Unspecified Error), and close Movie maker, and reopen it, whichever Files I
tried to Import are there in collection, but i cant add them on the
storyboard. No files none at all. can be added in the storyboard.

Waiting for ur reply
Cheers

You said it was working fine.... can you do a system restore and go back to
then?

and it could be codec related... see the Problem Solving > Crashes and Hangs
page of www.papajohn.org ... you might have brought one of the codecs into
your system that Movie Maker has problems with.

don't expect an answer to this question I posted it 3 times in the last 6 mo
so have others they tell everyone to try the same things which they will not
work then they just stop answering you good luck if you find an answer e-mail
me with it Thanks

Those things being converting the file, deleting bad codecs, doing a system
restore?
The next response after that is to reinstall SP2 which will also reinstall
WMM but that seems to be the step that nobody, for whatever reason, ever
wants to take. So if you don't want to do that then how exactly do you
expect any help?

Ive tried reinstalls i cannot try to go back to a restore point as that is
several months ago, and i I have tried recording straight into WMM with the
same error (hoping that it was a codec problem) , I have tried converting the
media to every kinda of video format i can think of.
