I am having trouble creating a hyperlink in my
presentation to go back to a previous slide. I can go
back one slide ok, but if I go back to another point the
hyperlink does't take me anywhere. It just changes color
nothing else. I am using the lateset version of Office.

How are you creating the link and what are you linking to? You can go to
Slide Show > Action Settings > Hyperlink to and select Slide and it will ask
you to pick the slide. Is that what you are doing?

I just found out that it happens only to one of the
slides. It seems like there is something in that slide
that wont let it go back there. If anyone know of
something that could cause it, please let me know.

I am just creating a link in my presentation to a previous
slide in my presentation. I did some testing and a link
works for every other slide exect slide no 3 (the one I
want to go to). Just wandering if there is something that
is causing the link to fail cause it wont go to slide 3,
but every other slide is ok.

Check the slide title. Does it contain commas? Sometimes commas in
slide titles (and possibly some other punctuation, but I think commas are
the main culprits) mess up hyperlinks.

HAHA...just found a Bug. It seems that if you have a
comma in the slide title, You cannot hyperlink to that
slide...probably has something to do with char. assignment
and how it handles special characters in the . if anyone
knows more...let me know.

You're seem to be right about the commas. Why dont they
fix things like that? Seems pretty easy if you are going
to name a slide title "Los Angeles, CA" or something.
Well I guess it doesnt happen that often, but a real
headache when it does.

It has to do with the way that PowerPoint stores hyperlinks. The "code"
that it uses includes the slide title and some extra information
separated by commas so your commas in the slide title mess that up.
Fortunately, there is an easy work-around. Instead of using a hyperlink,
use an Action Setting. Highlight your text and right click on it.
Choose Action Settings. Choose Hyperlink from there. Although a
Hyperlink is already set (because you set one the other way), you don't
want to use that. Instead, pick Slide... from the menu next to
Hyperlink. When you pick the slide, it will work, even with the commas
in the title.

Yeah...it works that way, but I just got rid of the
comma. You would think the code would pop out an error
message or something, but it just sits there like it
actually did something. Confusing at first, and I deleted
all my animation and sounds thinking that they might have
caused it. Oh well
