My computer does not go into hibernation anymore, after a set period of innactivity, can somebody help me?

I'm having the same problem, I think. I have a Toshiba Portege 7020CT that I've upgraded to XP Pro. It only-sometimes refuses to hibernate, saying that the COM1: port is preventing it. I have to uninstall both the modem and the port and reboot to get it working again for a few hibernations before it refuses again ..... and then I repeat the process. Like you, I'm getting very frustrated.

I just solve this problem of hibernation: EVERY NETWORK CONNECTION HAS TO BE DESABLE Go to control panel/Network and Internet Connections/ Networks Connections/ right click LAN connection (in my case anyway) and desable OR double click connection in system tray and disabl

Sounds like we might have different problems. I only have mine periodically, and it doesn't correlate with when I'm on a network, since I usually am. I'll post separately.

Hi Rick: It didn't solve my problem ether. I desabled my LAN and try hibernating after 1 minute innactivity. It worked once only. I srill cannot hibernate my system. I left my email address. If you solve the problem, let me know. (e-mail address removed) Thank you.
