I am stuck with a number of Outlook XP "personal Folder"
files that appear in my "Folders List" and refuse to be
deleted or closed. They originally were linked to actual
PST files. Those physical PST files got deleted first,
without removing the items from the Folder List in
outlook. Now, there is no way to delete or close the
items in Outlook, trying to do so results in error
message "Object not found". I have tried to create dummy
PST files using the same names as those that existed:
that works so far that I can now even open those dummy
PST files in Outlook and I can create subfolders inside
them. But, try to close or delete one, it still refuses
to do so. Any remedy? These files do not show up in the
Data files list within "Tools"-"Options" and they do not
show up in the profile data file slist in "Start menu"-
"Control Panel"-"Mail" either. I have reinstalled office
totally, but Outlook still somehow remembers the once
existing files. Where does outlook store its folder
lists? Is there another file hidden somewhere that I
need to get rid of to make outlook really forget those
once-existed PST files?
